Magnetic Letters

Working hard to learn the spelling of words from Vocabulary, Math, History, & Bible.

We had a great time cheering our teammates on to success!

Sometimes it was hard to find the right letter.

Learning Comprehension Strategies

Third Grade has been on a journey to develop comprehension strategies whenever they read. We usually wear 'detextive' hats while we are detecting strategies that help us understand the text we are reading. Today, we read about people and parachutes. We used visualizing as a way to comprehend the story and then we were able to participate in a parachute activity.

Mrs. Palermo's favorite time of the day is DEAR!

I'm always so impressed by the students at NCS and their ability to sit for a period of time and read for the pure enjoyment of reading. It is one of my favorite past times.

Note: The third grade class is busy reading the Trumpet of the Swan by E. B. White and writing journal entries to go along with each chapter. They have many interesting things to write about in their personal journals and I really get a kick out of reading their imaginary short stories.

Building a Godly Life

During our first week of school, we started talking about building a house. What tools do you need and what types of materials would you need to purchase? We experimented with wood, nails and a hammer. Next, we built some interesting forms with legos, Lincoln Logs, blocks, tooth picks and mini marshmallows. Third Grade will be working on Building a Godly Life as we move forward.
